The rooms were cozy and the staff was nice. I recommend the tea and kimono ceremonies.
Not complaining really but there were no mirrors or clocks in the rooms. It would be a beneficial addition.

The staff was extremely helpful and professional, some of them especially. Our room with simple decor was good little and brand-new.

The location was great and lovely as for me, really close to underground and bus stops, family run noodle shops, convenience stores, a supermarket.

The building itself is beautiful
Despite the heater being on all night it was like camping in a -20 snowstorm. Then we get to the good bit, it sounded like there was a nail factory next door which started at approximately 11 PM and continued until 8 AM when it stopped. The place seems very much like a hostel because there are notes stuck to absolutely everything, and you have to walk through a kitchen to get to your room.

The ryokan was run by a lovely, helpful family that spoke excellent English, which can be a rarity in Japan.
I ended up leaving the Ryokan after the second night of my five night stay. My room was right at the front of the building, surrounded by reception, communal kitchen, communal sitting room, hallway, staircase and bathroom, and so noisy I couldn't sleep. Even though I had also booked a double room, the was barely enough room for me! Not sure if I actually was in a double room. If you could get another room, I think it would be fine, but for me personally, it didn't make my stay enjoyable. I moved to a business hotel.
